At the beginning of each term this year I have set our students and staff a challenge or focus and on each occasion I have been pleased with the way they have responded. This term I have asked everyone to ‘bring their best self to school’ as we have many things to be grateful for.

We also have many reasons and events to celebrate this term. We will be celebrating 17 years of the Bairnsdale Campus on Monday October 17 at 9am with a special Fellowship and on this occasion we will welcome back 14 current Year 12 students who attended the Bairnsdale Campus to share in the celebrations.

We are all anticipating our upcoming camps with both excitement and nervousness. As a staff we are supporting each other to ensure these camps are well supervised, so as a result there will be a few changes with our classroom teachers over the next two weeks. A letter to the relevant classes will be sent separately with further details.

Bairnsdale Campus family event

We have our ‘Family Dolphin’ cruise organised on Sunday October 16 which will be a terrific way for our community to come together. Bairnsdale Campus families are invited for a Gippsland Lakes cruise on the Thunderbird, with Marine Mammal Foundation (MMF) staff educating us along the way about the Burrunan dolphins. The boat will depart from the Metung main jetty at 10am and return at noon. Weather permitting, there will then be a sausage sizzle lunch at Patterson Park. Morning tea, the boat trip and lunch are included in the ticket price and any funds raised will be donated to the MMF.

Please note that children must be under parent or guardian supervision on this day.
DATE: Sunday 16 October 2022
TIME: 10am – 12pm
CRUISE: the Thunderbird will depart from and return to the Metung Main Jetty in front of the Hotel.
BBQ: Patterson Park, Metung 12pm

Please note that tickets are limited as there are strict capacity limits on the Thunderbird.

Art Show

Save the date and book a babysitter! The Bairnsdale Campus art show is this month, with an adults-only social event to open the show on Thursday October 27 from 6.30-9pm. Come to view the show, hear some fabulous live music, enjoy some woodfired oven pizzas from ‘The Local’, and drinks from Lightfoots and Sailors Grave. Friends and extended family are most welcome, but please remember this is an adults-only event. This show will feature work of every student from ELC Transition to Year 6. Further details will be sent in an invitation in the coming days.

This term we have welcomed five new students to our campus. Aiden and Remy in Foundation, Dylan and Jaiden in Year 1 and Kaleb in Year 4. They have settled in well with their peers looking after them both in the classroom and on the playground.

Enjoy the weekend ahead.
