On May 4 May, the shooting team travelled to Lilydale to take part in the Yarra Valley School Shoot. Shooting Captain Finn Carpenter said the team did well at the shoot, winning overall first place in the team event by seven targets, as well as some impressive performances from our individual shooters. Imogen Carpenter and Darcee Young came first and third in the junior girl’s category, with scores of 13/30 and 11/30 respectively. Ella O’Doherty came second in the senior girl’s category with a score of 15 out of 30. Gippsland Grammar’s squad 1 – including Finn, Nathaniel, James, Ella and Sam - was the top squad for the day with a collective score of 87 out of 150. Overall, everyone shot well and Finn said the team was eager to improve even further in future competitions.
“A big thank you to Mr Kuch (teacher in charge of shooting) for organising the day, along with all the generous volunteers at the Longford Gun Club for giving up their time to come with us,” Finn said.
