The final weeks of term have been busy ones at our ELCs. On March 8 and 9 we were thrilled to welcome families for an evening of ‘Stay and Play’. These sessions were very well attended and it was lovely to see the children, parents and educators getting to know each other and begin to form a sense of connection. Parents enjoyed painting, pasting, sand play and collaging with their children and were provided with information about the value of play for their child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Play is the young child’s ‘work’ and when we positively engage with, extend and scaffold play, we support a child’s brain development and set them up for future success. Up to 90 per cent of brain development occurs before age five, so child’s play is very important.

Our Open Days at both campuses were well attended with many families coming to see what an early education at Gippsland Grammar can offer. There were many positive comments about how beautiful our centres are and our staff’s evident passion and professionalism. Enrolments for 2024 will begin on Thursday June 1, so if any of our community has forgotten to enrol for next year, please do so now. This week, the children have been celebrating Easter's arrival in many ways, including making lots of rabbits, easter egg collages and Easter baskets. The St Anne’s and Bairnsdale Transition children invited their families and Year 5 buddies to a special hat parade and afternoon tea. They were delighted with the arrival of a very special visitor in the form of Easter Bunny himself.

As you can see from the following Teacher Reports, a great deal of rich learning is happening at this end of our School!

I hope everyone enjoys some precious family ‘down’ time over the Easter break.
